Buying makes sense once a rental has run long enough that you are effectively paying for the box twice. Our used containers are cargo-worthy, CSC survey approved, and typically ten to fifteen years old or more.

What cargo-worthy actually certifies

CWO means the container still meets international shipping standards and carries a valid CSC plate. It can legally go on a ship.

That is a higher bar than wind and watertight. A WWT box is sound for storage on the ground but not certified for ocean carriage. If you plan to ship or export, you need CWO specifically, and it is worth being clear which you are buying because the price difference reflects a real difference.

For storage that never leaves your yard, either works, and CWO simply means you bought better condition than you strictly required.

Age is not condition

A fifteen year old container that spent its life carrying dry goods can be in better shape than a younger one that had a harder run. We would rather you looked at the actual unit than bought off a spec sheet. Come to the yard in Pierre and see what is available.
